Angers, capital of Maine-et-Loire,  is a fine, prosperous town set on a hill above the river Maine, with a splendid park,
an over-restored Cathedral and some fine museums. Some of the streets in the centre are picturesque, and the
whole place looks as if it has just been thoroughly scrubbed.
